Tungipara largest village of Patgati union at
Tungipara Upazilla in Gopalgonj
of Bangladesh. It comprises 18
small or big villages. During 1984 it was
made as patgati and
became Union.
This area was underwater long
ago. So the people lived high
land. In
Bengali high land
covering water from every side
is called danga. This the village is
named after that. As the village
is big so different part of it are
named like Purbopara,
Possimpara, Dokhinpara,
Uttarpara, Moddhopara.
Once this area was backwarded
in education. But the scene has
been changed.

It is the birthplace
of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman,who
is considered as the father of
the nation and founder of
independent
Bangladesh.

On 17th march Bangladeshi flag
was raised in the air at Patgati
Bazar for the first time.
