Proverb sayes `Dhan Nadi Khal Ei tine-E Barisal' . In 1796 southern side of Dhaka district named as Chandradip. Chandradip was changed as Bakhergang in 1797. Bakhergang was changed as Barisal in 1801. There was 15 Thana(PS) in Barisal district. Patuakhali district was seperated form Barisal in 1969. There was two sub- divission in Patuakhali; Patuakhali & Barguna. In 1984 barguna was declared as a new district. There are five Upa-Zila in Barguna district: Amtali, Barguna, Betagi, bamna And Patharghata. Amtali is one of the most important Upazila in Barguna. There are ten Unions in Amtali Upazila. They are 1) Gulishakhali 2) Kukua 3) Atharogashia 4) Haldia 5) Chawra 6) Amtali 7) Arpangashia 8) Panchakoralia 9) Karibaria and 10) Barabagi.
Arpangashia unoin is situated in the district of Barguna near the Bay of Bengal. Arpangashia is almost southern side of Bangladesh. Payra river is North and west side of Arpangashia. Chakamoya of Kalapara Upazila is adjacent to Arpangashia in south side. Arpangashia is a ILA and Sidor effected area. Many people was died in ILA and Sidor . The villageres are very much simple and frindly.
Once upon a time there was many Pangas and Aier fish avilable in Payra river at arpangashia. Fishermen caught a lot of such fish. They were very happy for this. By such fishes named Aier and Pangas the villages named as Arpangashia.
At this moment fishermen of jugia, Danga and Pasharibunia get a lot of Aier and Pangas . We are proud of our village and union.
