ISRP Winter 2013: Participants Present Their Research Activities and Meet Dr. Md. Yunus

January 09, 2013 – Twenty Japanese students and professionals visiting Bangladesh as a part of their research exertion under International Students’ Research Program (ISRP) conducted by Global Communication Center (GCC) of Grameen Communications have met Nobel Laureate Prof. Dr. Muhammad Yunus and shared their research experience today at the Yunus Center auditorium. This time, the areas of their research interest were Health, Education and New Ideas.

Mr. Yukoh Satake (Co-Chief Executive Officer, Grameen Yukiguni Maitake Ltd.) along with his team, Prof. Dr. Ashir Ahmed (Director, GCC) from Kyushu University, Japan and Dr. Kazi Rafiqul Islam Maruf (Consultant, GCC) were also present during the ceremony.

Dr. Md. Yunus drew light on the importance of Social Business Ventures for the economical progression of the country on his valuable speech. Current activities and initiatives taken around the world with the concept of Social Business were emphasized over the talk. He asked everyone to participate more at such activities and contribute their own parts for the betterment of the world.

Afterwards, an interactive Question-Answer session was held where the participants were given the opportunity to communicate their queries and thoughts regarding the experience of this program and continuation of such research exertions though future projects. Before meeting Dr. Md. Yunus, all the participants presented their research findings at the Certificate Handover Ceremony organized at the Grameen Communications conference hall. Prof. Dr. Ashir Ahmed and Dr. Kazi Rafiqul Islam Maruf handed over the certificate of participation to all the participants.

Previously, the orientation ceremony of the ISRP Winter session was held at Grameen auditorium on January 5, 2013 in order to introduce them with Grameen officials, as well as, to give them an essence of Bangladeshi culture.

The team had carried out their research activities successfully at Basundia, Jessore through January 6 – 8, 2013. Six Bangladeshi students from University of Dhaka and two coordinators from GCC had joined the team and took part in the research program.
