International Research Opportunity Program (IROP)

Global Communication Center (GCC) offers a unique research opportunity especially to the young generation and the professionals around the globe through the International Research Opportunity Program (IROP). IROP is a research program about the life of the unreached people. Researchers find out various social problems and work out solutions to address them using various useful technologies. It offers scope for any organization or an individual to collaborate with and contribute to the technology based social development projects undertaken by GCC. It also facilitates the interested parties in Social Business to take part in the field activities and experience the social requirements directly. By this program, GCC has created several opportunities for the students, professionals and researchers to experience the enormous activities being done by Grameen.

IROP programs are exclusively designed for the international university students, faculty members, academicians, researchers, professionals and individuals. IROP paves the way for them to know the rural Bangladesh, its problems and possibilities more closely. A 5-6 days of field visit lets the team interact directly with the villagers and propose solutions with the advanced knowledge they possess. Every year more than 60 students participate in the program. A bunch of students from some of the leading educational institutions have already taken part in it, such as, Kyushu University, Hitotsubashi University, Tokyo University and many more.

isrp rch site

Ekhlaspur, Chandpur: This is a place very close to the river, Meghna. You will get to observe the lifestyle of the fishermen community and interact with them. You will also experience a water-ride through the river Meghna while getting there. We have a very much village-like accommodation here with all the facilities. The Union Parishad Office (office of the local government representative) is very close to the accommodation. Also, there is a high school near it, so you can easily get there and communicate with the children directly. The ISRP participants usually hold a lot of activities at the local schools, and as we are in good terms with the school authorities, you can execute the activities smoothly.

Basundia, Jessore: Jessore is famous for producing date-sugar and cultivation of vegetables and flowers. It is a great place to enjoy the natural beauties of a village. There are several high schools and other educational institutions in Basundia and surrounding areas. The accommodation is modernized, comfortable and eye-soothing with a piece of front-yard garden.

Bhomradaha, Thakurgaon: Thakurgaon has an attractive cultural diversity with people of different tribes and religions living here. You can experience the versatile cultural practices while your stay. The problem of arsenic contamination in drinking water prevails here; the previous ISRP teams have carried out activities to educate people about the harmful effects of arsenic in human body and demonstrated the easy and cheap processes to make drinking water free of arsenic.
